We created this blog as an opportunity to share the things that we are learning through scripture and our daily lives. We are humbled that God has chosen to bless our family in so many ways and we want the opportunity to share those blessings with all of you.
We’ve been married since March of 2008 and both work at Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters…where we met. We recently just had our first little (not little in size) boy, Silas, and love being parents. We really enjoy where the Lord has us right now and the things He is daily teaching, stretching, and growing us in. We have no idea what our future holds, but we know that if we are pursuing Christ and seeking His glory, we will walk in obedience.
We hope you enjoy learning more about The Gattens and the things the Lord has in store for us.
I was born on December 16th, 1986 in Sanford, North Carolina. The summer after high school I went to Mississippi after hurricane Katrina to help the American Red Cross. On that trip the Lord opened my heart to those who were depraved and had no regard for the Gospel. God gave me a desire to pursue Him more and an opportunity arose for me to attend Snowbird Outfitter’s Outdoor Leadership Semester program in the fall of 2006. After the semester was over, I stayed to work full-time in the maintenance department at Snowbird. Now I continue to do maintenance around camp, as well as videography. I love woodworking, humorous things, building, fabrication, mechanics…and anything else you do with your hands. If I could go to the Andrews pool every day…I would. My wife is stinkin’ awesome! And the kid is pretty cool too. I love being a husband and a Dad.
I was born on September 6th, 1981, in Illinois. I moved to North Carolina in 2002, to work a summer at Snowbird Outfitters. Little did I know that the Lord had bigger plans for me than just that summer. I volunteered that fall and then came on full-time in the spring of 2003, and have been here ever since. For the past 3 years I’ve been working specifically on marketing and promotions at Snowbird, and I’m now focusing more on the website and being the Director’s Assistant. I love doing crafty stuff and cooking, although I’m not good at either. And my new-found addiction to Pinterest doesn’t help. Being a wife and mom is nothing like I ever imagined! The Lord has truly blessed me beyond measure!
Silas was born Nov. 9th, 2011. He made a grand entrance at 10lbs. 7oz.!! We’re really excited to see him grow and develop. His favorite things right now are playing on his piano playmat, talking, and taking a bath. He HATES sleep and will do whatever he can to stay awake with Momma and Daddy. We know and trust the Lord is preparing his heart right now for him to learn about who Christ is. And we pray that he will one day walk in fellowship with our Savior.
